The Town of Sandy Creek is a small quiet community located approximately 12.5 miles west of Wilmington, NC. The Town was incorporated in 1988 with the diligence of Ernest E "Buddy" Grainger, A man who envisioned a town with easier access. Consequently, he became the first Mayor of Sandy Creek in September 1988, serving until December 1995. As of the 2009 census the population of Sandy Creek was 318 people, with a growth rate of 29.3% since 2000. Sandy Creek continues to grow without losing it's small hometown feeling.

The Proposed Budget for the Town of Sandy Creek for the fiscal year of 2021-2022 has been presented to the Town Council and is available for public inspection at the Town Hall located at 114 Sandy Creek Drive in Leland, NC.
There will be a Public Hearing on June 22, 2021 at 7 pm for the purpose of discussing the proposed budget. Citizens are invited to make written or oral comments. After the Public Hearing, the Town Council will adopt the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021.
